This month, we chat with Kristina Spaulding, PhD, CAAB about why it’s important to keep up with the science of behavior and some tactics for doing so. Kristina apparently loves reading research papers, and she has some tips for those just getting into paper reading, including how to find the right papers for you, shortcuts for keeping up even without reading the papers (not ideal, but could work), and setting expectations for how a paper can help you in your training or behavior consulting. She also discusses some examples in the animal behavior field where we often think we have the answer, but there’s really no science to back up what we think we know!
