Recently, a woman was offended when a service dog trainer/handler declined a request to pet a service dog in training. The woman, now known around the world as “Service Dog Sally,” became quite belligerent when she heard “no” and felt the response was rude. In this episode, we discuss the differences between service dogs, emotional support dogs, and therapy dogs, including certifications and how/whether they interact with the public. We also discuss whether the response from the handler was appropriate and why.
